CricKids Ashes Challenge
In the lead up to the previous 3 mobile Ashes Series, Cricket Australia required an interactive website that would help to grow awareness of cricket with school children. The CricKids Ashes Challenge website was created to accompany the CricKids Ashes Challenge written curriculum which could be purchased by schools across Australia.The website allows schools to purchase the CricKids Ashes Challenge resources via a secure online payment system. For the students undertaking the CricKids Ashes Challenge, the website also provides a Flash™ based quiz system that tests their learning in an enjoyable environment. Once a student completes a section of the quiz their score is used to provide a real-time ranking against other students.
The Flash™ quiz was designed to connect to the web server to gather questions and submit answers. It achieves this by using XML data transfers and a specially developed security system to thwart users attempting to falsify a score.
Using Flash™ to create the quiz ensures that server bandwidth was kept to a minimum. At the same time it provides for an engaging experience through the use of animated introductions and answer feedback complete with crowd effects.
The end result combines database, XML and Flash™ technologies to produce an interactive website which appeals to both students and teachers alike.
