Sport 927
Radio station Sport 927 has been broadcasting general sport and racing for over a decade, and during that time has positioned itself as a leader in sporting news and opinion. However in 2006 they realised that their existing website had fallen behind, both in terms of design and the content provided. It was also proving difficult to update for the non-technical Sport 927 staff in charge of the website. It was our challenge to make Sport 927 as important an online force as the station is on the airwaves.The site was completely redesigned to provide a clean, modern look that would be both eye pleasing and convey the maximum amount of information. With so many news items generated within a single day it was important to develop a layout that gave prominence to the newest stories while at the same time allowing visitors to see more than just the last three or four news items. This was addressed by developing a three-tiered layout, giving prominence to feature stories at the top of the page. The design also provides for further headlines under the features section, so that all of the action is covered.
Along with written news Sport 927 provides many of their interviews and programs online through the website. With so much information added on a daily basis it was vital that a content management system be built that could handle the load and be operated by a number of internal staff. The system provided for Sport 927 is a customised version of Blue Pebble Design’s own content management system.
Since the launch of the redeveloped website, we have worked closely with Sport 927 to maintain and develop new features on the site. It has ensured that Sport 927’s online presence continues to grow, and complement their leading radio broadcasts.
